Before placing a high-risk AI system on the EU market, providers must register themselves and the system in the EU database. Deployers who are public bodies must also register before first using the system. The registration must contain the information set out in Annex VIII.

Article 49 — Registration of High-Risk AI Systems in the EU Database

1. Before placing on the market or putting into service a high-risk AI system listed in Annex III, the provider or, where applicable, the authorised representative shall register themselves and that system in the EU database referred to in Article 71.

2. Before putting into service or using in accordance with Article 26(11) a high-risk AI system listed in Annex III, deployers that are public authorities, Union institutions, bodies, offices or agencies shall register themselves in the EU database referred to in Article 71.

3. The registration shall contain the information set out in Section A of Annex VIII for high-risk AI systems referred to in Annex III.
