Article 89 — Interplay with Competition Law

This Regulation is without prejudice to the provisions of Union law on competition, in particular Articles 101 and 102 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union.

The obligations under this Regulation shall not be interpreted in such a way as to prevent operators from taking measures that are necessary for compliance with competition law, or to shield operators from competition law obligations.
