The AI Office should be established within the Commission to supervise general-purpose AI models. It should develop Union expertise and capabilities in AI, carry out market surveillance and investigations, and coordinate enforcement with national competent authorities. The AI Office should also support the development of codes of practice for GPAI models with the involvement of relevant stakeholders. Member States should designate national competent authorities, and at least one market surveillance authority responsible for AI Act implementation.
