Article 56 — Codes of Practice

1. The AI Office shall encourage and facilitate the drawing up of codes of practice at Union level in order to contribute to the proper application of this Regulation taking into account international approaches.

2. The AI Office and the Commission shall aim to ensure that the codes of practice cover at least the following:
(a) the means to ensure that the information referred to in Article 53(1) is kept up to date;
(b) adequate levels of cybersecurity;
(c) where appropriate, the information to be provided pursuant to Article 53(1)(b) by categories of models;
(d) the identification and mitigation of systemic risks at Union level, including their nature and sources.

3. Participation in the codes of practice shall be open to providers of general-purpose AI models and, where relevant, providers of AI systems. The Commission and the AI Office shall take utmost account of the opinion of experts.

4. Compliance with a code of practice may be used by a provider of a general-purpose AI model to demonstrate compliance with the obligations set out in Articles 52, 53 and 55.
