Article 54 — Authorised Representatives of Providers of General-Purpose AI Models Not Established in the Union 1. Prior to placing a general-purpose AI model on the Union market, providers not established in the Union shall appoint, by written mandate, an authorised representative established in the Union. 2. The authorised representative shall perform the tasks specified in the mandate. The mandate shall empower the authorised representative to: (a) verify that the technical documentation referred to in Article 53(1) has been drawn up and that the provider's obligations have been met; (b) keep at the disposal of the AI Office and national competent authorities the name, address and contact details of the provider; (c) cooperate with the AI Office and national competent authorities, upon reasoned request, to carry out actions taken pursuant to this Regulation. 3. The authorised representative shall be deemed to be the provider's legal representative in the Union for the purposes of this Regulation.
